Two POEMS
Laurie Koensgen
There are instants of clarity
when light breaks clean
in which we glean
the likenesses of things:
a new magnolia bud
the shape of a tear
the hollow of a flame.
Shoring
In the grey-blue change room
the old Italian women
towel each other’s backs--
their brown arms sand bars
over weathered beaches
of wet skin.
