Submission Guidelines
Thank you for your interest in publishing with Twin Bird Review! We are a biannual online literary publication for imaginative fiction, poetry, essays, art, and comics. We publish writers at all stages of their careers, but are especially interested in new and emerging voices. We value vibrancy and diversity in the work we publish, and especially encourage submissions from writers and artists in groups that have been historically underrepresented in publishing.
As of August 1, 2024 we are open for submissions!
Please read a bit about us prior to submitting, to make sure your work* is a good fit.
Here are our guidelines:
* Please note, we do not accept submissions created with the assistance of AI (such as ChatGPT) except in cases where the use of such software comprises an intentional creative element of the overall project. These cases should be clearly noted. Any unacknowledged use of this software is in direct conflict with our mission statement as a publication.
All submissions should be sent to [email protected]. Please include “Submission + GENRE” in the subject line, i.e. – “Submission – Fiction.” Please also include a cover letter in the body of your email with a brief biographical statement.
We ask that all submissions be original and previously unpublished. If your submission has been previously published but the magazine is now defunct, we would still be happy to consider it, but please make note of the previous publication in your cover letter. Simultaneous submissions are accepted, but please be sure to withdraw your submission if it’s accepted elsewhere.
Should your piece be accepted, we request first serial rights worldwide in English and non-exclusive anthology rights. We ask that any future publications of the piece acknowledge the initial publication in Twin Bird Review.
Although we are not currently a paying market, we hope to be soon. Please consider giving a few dollars to help us get there!
We aim to respond to all submissions within 8 - 12 weeks. If you do not hear back from us within that time frame, please feel free to send us a check in.
We look forward to reading your work!
